My name is Giovanni; I am currently a PhD student in mechanical engineering at the Polytechnic University of Turin (Italy). From November 2026, I will be spending six months in Porto at the University of Mechanical Engineering (until the end of April; I will return to Italy in early May) as part of my study abroad programme.
I’m not your typical young student (I’m 37); I previously worked for a few years as a mechanical designer and am now trying to embark on a career as a researcher. I also have experience as a professional chef (6 years), a private tutor in maths and physics, and a beekeeper. I enjoy travelling in my self-converted campervan and taking part in outdoor sports (hiking, ski mountaineering, mountain biking...). I also hold a certificate from the Italian Cycling Federation as a MTB instructor and cycle touring guide.
